sports exhaust for 996 Turbo

Unfortunately Porsche don't do their own as Stuart mentioned, but there are a host of aftermarket options. You can't just change the exhaust with the 996 you have to also change the cats & most of the aftermarket systems include 100 cell cats as part of the system. This means they are all expensive starting at £2000 & moving up to over £4k for the likes of RUF!
The standard system has a fair bit of boom around the 2k mark of the rev counter & this is increased with a sports exhaust, so expect any system to be a bit of pain when putting your foot down in 6th at 60-ish! But you can drive around this. also because of all the Turbo plumming the car doesn't sound as good as a standard Carrera with a system fitted!
But the car sounds simply fan-bloodytastic outside & there is just enough extra volume to increase your involvement with the car, it will sound grumbly at tick over & refined on the cruise. The 100 cell cats help spool the Turbo's up slightly quicker for better throttle response & most claim to offer around an extra 20 horses.
I have a Cargraphic system (have also heard positive comments about Milteck & Tubi systems) & it is TUV approved (important !) & is the medium loud model. Be aware that some systems (including the Cargraphic loud) are too loud & make the car sound like a tractor outside!!!
I had the system fitted at an OPC & they didn't have an issue with it, you MUST also keep the original system for re-sale.
For what it's worth I wouldn't go back to standard, but purchased mine second hand for £1k, at £4k it's more border-line, but hey it's only money!!

Gemballa are well known, but the price sounds too steep to me for a used system, be aware that there can be issue's with the racing cats (they are 100cell on mine & 200 cell on Gaxors) used, I have heard they don't last as long (& if your car is MOT age can affect emmisions) so how many miles has this system done? I would be thinking nearer half that price, but that's me. At £2800 I'd rather go down Gaxors Miltec route, save money & get a brand new system with guarantee.
