Sports exhaust for C4S

I bought an 03 C4S on Saturday and was wondering if anyone had any advice on sports exhaust systems. I've been looking at the PSE one, Tubi and Fabspeed?

I have the fabspeed on mine and it does make a great noise. Std headers n cats though so may look to change the headers as a good mod.

I know the PSE one is popular as well but not cheap.

have you thought about Ruf, Techart and Gamella as well?

I know Manu who runs Tubi and can help you get some discount if you pay cash.

he only does the rear boxes I think as I was getting him to look into headers for me too. he is just up the road from me in egham

let me know

Thanks Nick.
My dad had a Tubi from Manu on his 575M last year and loves it. I spoke to Manu and he reckons about £1k fitted. Not sure on the noise though? Do you think it will be louder than Fabspeed? I found a Fabspeed for £700 fitted, but i'm willing to pay more if the Tubi is that much better

As your car is so new, best to check the Warranty implications of going for a non-approved system.

PSE is also superb and transforms the quality and character of the 996. About £1,350 without the switch, c.£1,800 with it (supplied and fitted by your OPC, after PCGB discount)

Had our PSE for a week - can not stop grinning and love the sound.

Paid £1600 fitted at Nottingham OPC

Best £1600 we have every spent on a car - just love it.

woops my 1.3 ghia escort cost that - now that was a car - EWW 1OO T - first love

I had PSE fitted to my '02 C4S. It was worth every penny! It's a lovely noise. Also, the switch sounds a bit of a gimick, but it's a great idea - being able to turn it back into a nice quiet car when you're starting up at 6am is really great. And then of course when you get to the end of the road you can turn it back on again and get that lovely noise...

I think you are really pulling at straws re noise to be honest.

I doubt there is much in it really. gues it comes down to quality, fit , finish and looks really. Manu does do some good stuff though and my car came with the exhaust so no point in looking elsewhere!!

the warranty thing is a laod of horse 5shit! the back box has little impact on power and delivery so does not put any real starin on the car! if prosche are not prepard to warranty an engine to have a 0.5% improvment then what are they saying about their cars!

speak to your local dealer, let them know what you are doing and they will be fine I am sure!

I found a really good value exhaust on here and might get some headers from them too if manu does not come up trumps:

800 bucks for a sports back box! plus some for the tips and it works out a good price with the rate today.

Did that include the switch as well? I'm been quoted over £1900 from Tonbridge OPC.

I would go without the switch, for 6 reasons:

1. The default position is 'on' anyway
2. It is never loud or intrusive, it just makes a delicious sound
3. The 'noise' is normally controlled with your right foot
4. It is only slightly noisy for 60 seconds or so, when starting from cold, or at high rpm on a 'quiet' track day
5. You should be able to get a PSE fitted by an OPC for c.£1,350
6. If you find you need a switch, have it fitted later

hmm - having got a PSE with the switch, I'd have to say - go with the switch. It's the piece that makes the PSE different to any of the aftermarket options. As Oliver said, it's only noisy when you first start it in the morning for a minute or so, but that minute will really p*ss off your neighbours at 6:30 in the morning. Having the flexibility to be family/neighbour friendly is the real bonus of the PSE.

I'm with you on that. Managed to negotiate my OPC down to 1650 - having it fitted next week! [:)]

Just been speaking to a company in Romford, Essex (www.design911.com) they will fit a genuine PSE with switch, for £1480!! I reckon this is as good as i'm going to get and am having it done next Saturday!

That's pretty good, as the list price for the PSE is £1021+VAT (checked at Reading OPC yesterday) and the TSB shows a book time of 7.5 hours for fitting (with switch). If anyone wants a copy of the TSB, send me an email and I'll attach it to a reply.
