Sports exhaust help

Hi everyone. We've just traded in our '88 3.2 Targa for a Bosxter S, and we're very very pleased with it. I'm looking at options for a better sounding sports exhaust now - does anyone have any opinions on the best route to go for? thanks.

Congratulations on the new purchase Ash, I'm sure you guys wont be disappointed with it! If its a 986 you've bought then there is the official Tequipment sports exhaust with the nice looking bypass pipes, available from your local OPC. Otherwise I believe there is a Janspeed one - don't know if its any good.

Try doing a search on here as I know its a topic that has come up a few times.

Hope you make it to the Ace on the 30th so we can see the new addition?!

Cheers, John

Hi John, good to hear from you fella! We went to the Ace on Saturday morning hoping to see you there and ask some questions before going to buy one. We got one from Virgin 911 in the end. It's one of the first 3.2's but it's in fantastic condition. I'm really impressed with it - it feels great on the road, and it's got little things like heating that works, power steering and - my god - air conditioning!! We're sorry to see the Targa go, but the red 911 will be finished in a couple of months.

Anyway, yes we'll be at the Ace on the 30th - see you there!

I had a bad experience with terrible boom period between 2400-3000 rpm and definite slight loss of torque with certain after market exhausts these are known problems.

On my last 986 S I had an excellent system by Rook which I purchased from J Z Machtech TEL: 07000 100 911

The system sounded excellent, no boom at all and most importantly zero power loss

The JZ Mactec exhaust was made by a couple of brothers in Belgium. They're hand made to a very high standard and perform brilliantly.Their company is call Europipe.

I'm not sure if they still produce pipes for Boxsters as they have an order book full to make for 996's 997's. But the guys at JZ, will be able to help you.

Have alook at their web site anyway the the video's of the modified cars is a good view, with very good sound.

I have fitted the standard exhaust modified with bypass pipes (as per Techequip.) regularly advertised on E-Bay. Sound is really racing car sound but fantastic. My son prefers the sound - thought the Boxster sounded like a washing machine before !
