Sports Exhaust Not Working

My sports exhaust has stopped working. I have tried removing the brown plug in the engine bay which, I understand, should result in the PSE being on permanently but this does not produce any change to the exhaust note. It's difficult to be sure but I think the "normal" exhaust note is also slightly different.

Presumably a valve or similar is not operating? Anyone had a similar experience?

My sports exhaust went on my last 997 4S on one side, and having taken it to OPC they found that the valve was broken. If my memory is right they said the new set would cost about £1500 - gulp! The car was nearly 3 years old, and I'd had it for about 8 months so I protested that it should still be under warranty. OPC said it was a 'consumable' so was not covered but in the end the OPC 'said' that Porsche had agreed to pay 2/3 of the cost, so I ended up with a £500 bill. If new needed and car under warranty then stand your ground.

I have seen the vacum valves getting stuck.
Pull the vacum line with the T connector from the 90° angled nipple of the PSE valve and see what happens.

FYI : The complete valve in the PSE exhaust can be replaced for around £400.

Thanks, I tried pulling the vacuum line from the connector and the sports exhaust then works. Presumably this means that the solenoid/valve needs replacing. Any idea of cost?

The solenoid/valve was diagnosed by OPC Hatfield as the problem. They ordered the part and fitted it, when it arrived a couple of days, later whilst I waited, all covered under the warranty. However, they then detected a slight rattle from one of the exhaust boxes which they have subsequently replaced under the extended warranty. Very good service from Hatfield.

That's the second glowing report about Hatfield in as many days
