Sports Exhaust Problems

Evening All

Have C4s, 55 plate (just had MOT) with sports exhaust, and the actuator switch was not switching between normal & sports.
Took it into OPC who showed me that the diaphram in one silencer was not working, with the other one 'on its way out'.
I have warranty until May 09, but as exhaust system is a consumable, it would be my cost.
OPC have been good in asking Porsche for some assisstance in the cost, and they have said they will pay 66% of the £1374, leaving me to pay approx £500. Using a non OPC will invalidate warranty so.....2 questions
1. Has anyone else had this problem, and what was outcome?
2. Am I being a tight [][&:][>:][X(][] and be thankful that Porsche will pay for 2/3rds?

Any help/suggestions would be gratefully rec'd
Thanks

I"d say if u had paid personally to have the exhaust fitted then u have some recourse on the OPC u personally used but im guessing ubought the car from a third party who had the car from new or the car had it fitted from the start. I recon porsche are being pretty fair to say the least. I had one fitted to mine tail end of last year when it was serviced and if it went wrong then i"d go back to the OPC but thats a different senario

Porsche will claim wear n tear on the exhaust system so some goodwill is a step in the right direction for customer service. However, i'd expect any exhaust system to last more than 3 years, never mind a stainless steel system.

Bought the car from OPC second hand, with a years warranty, from Sutton Coalfield, but the prognosis was pointed out at OPC Silverstone. Wanted to use local as Porsche warranty should be covered wherever I get it serviced so long as use an OPC.
I will contact SC and see if they will do any different. Danger is I don't want to screw it up and end up with Porsche pulling the goodwill.

I had the same problem with my car when it had done approx 20,000 miles and was lucky enough for Porsche to cover the full cost.

These things can happen and in my case I was suprised that an exhaust on such a high performance car couldnt see out three years and would have been mighty peved if Porsche didnt cover at least part of the cost.

I would take up the Porsche offer and have the piece of mind that this new part should last three years if your unlucky and a lot longer if you are. And you havent had to bear the full brunt of the cost!

Cheers Guys

I have come to the same conclusion.
It helps talking to others who have had similar experiences
Will keep you posted should things change
