Sports Exhaust

Hi All

I wondered if anybody had any opinions on the best sports exhaust for a 996 Turbo, having some work done on the car at the moment and I am very tempted to put on a sports exhaust. I don't want something really load but would like to improve the overall sound from the car.

Cheers Sean

Hi Sean Just had a Dansk sports exhaust fitted to my 996 C4S it has a deeper sound plus a more sporty note on acceleration but on cruise it sounds no louder than a standard exhaust just what I wanted for those long journeys[:)] Brad

I heard a Tubi exhaust on a 996 turbo and was very impressed. I but not sure how loud it would be cruising Also heard good things about Dansk.

Brad, was that their 'standard' sports exhaust or a switchable version? Looking at those when the seams finally go on mine..... can you post part numbers & who did you source it through? Cheers Paul

Hi Paul, Its a standard Sports Exhaust not switchable, too expensive, but you can get them via either Euro Car parts or Type 911.Think the part no was 96.300S.give Tony @ Carrera Eng. a ring on 01992 892333 as he procured & fitted them. Make sure they have the bellows fitted as the solid pipe ones tend to fracture. They come in 2 cloth bags with a polishing cloth for those concourse nuts like us!!!

Does anybody have any experience of Carnewal? Looks like a good option as an upgrade to the original? Cheers Sean

Thanks for the info Brad, not required yet but good to know someone who has fitted them & is pleased..... perhaps I'll get a chance to see them before the year is out! Cheers Paul

I did a search on google for a tubi on a turbo and it sounds pretty good, the video goes through a tunnel. Unfortunately i now want one[][:D]

Sean - I've got a Kline Innovation on mine. There are some clips on YouTube and on Kline's site. Great sound with very little drone between 2000 and 3000. If you're near Kent, happy to take you for a spin / drive past to hear what it's like. Whatever you decide, I'd really recommend the 'crossover' type as I've had both crossover and separate - the crossover sounds much better and more like a N/A 911 sports exhaust. Picture below is when I had new 200 cell cats welded in - even better now!

It is alleged that my 996 t has a tubi not sure how much b/s that is but it is not std and again alegedly has 200 cell stainless cats. Flies through the mot. Lovely howl and I am sure the crapsan gtr owner was quite surpised he did not pull away from me despite his quad dustbin exhaust. Borderline obtrusive cruising but mine's a cab. 101 db at Bedford, not switchable, 151 at the end of the long straight. Lovely howl rememiscent of how an aircooled might sound. All I need is to play the sound of the fan through the stereo.

+1 for Kline. I've got a crossover system with 200 cell cats on my 996 4S. Very happy with the system, regularly get complimentary comments on the sound, have had lots of tunnel fun with it. I strongly recommend that if you go for a Kline, buy the system and get a trusted specialist to fit it for you. Mike
