SPORTS EXHAUST

No that's the whole shooting match. Car Been delivered back today all working fine I'm told and looking good. Was 1350 they agreed but I basically got it for 1300 as they knocked a bit off the service. Can't wait to get home and see it!!!!
 
got home, fell in love with the new look then my heart was broken when the damn thing didnt work! it turns itself off when i accellerate and then back on when i step off the gas. also it wont turn on and off immediately when u press the button. they are sending technitian today!!! anyone elase had this?
 
Hi David, The PSE on the 997 is active from 0 to 20mph I think....then it switches itself off between 20 and 45 mph, due to EU noise regulations! and back on for speeds over 45mph (approx figures) What most people do is disengage the brown connector plug so that it's on all the time (But don't leave it flapping around in the engine bay...reconnect the plug but don't let it click into place), and you get the glorious sound throughout the rev range. You will love it
 
Hear you but my one isnt right. I had a loan car from Porsche whilst mine being serviced that had PSE and that didnt behave like this one. Im just desperate for it to be right...
 
I know the Cayman is not quite the same as the 911, but my switcherable sports exhaust on my Cayman S was rubbish. Just when I wanted it to sound good (accelerating from 25 - 40mph ) it was inoperative. Even when it did work it was not much better than a Cayman without it. At higher speeds it was just ok, but by then wind and tyre noise masked it. I would not have it again on a Cayman. As for unplugging the control lead so that it was on all the time, I tried that, but one might just as well go for an aftermarket system. Anyway, the Porsche system is just the back box. Most aftermarket are the whole system. More expensive, but great. That said, I am waiting for the 997 Gen 2 variant to become available (May 09), but have learnt my lesson. I'll hear it first before parting with money.

I should finish this thread by telling u all that the exhaust i have now that ive gotten used to it is very good. I had gotten used to the newer version on the current models and therefore not realised the slight difference with my model. Also removing the brown plug in the engine bay, i feel, isnt necessary as it then doesnt sound like a porsche. Its all a personal thing i guess but im happy with the PSE as it was intended. Cheers for all the feedback. P.S having mentioned i was a member of PCGB i got £50 off the service bill which pays for my subs for another year so im happy all round!
