Sports Exhaust

ORIGINAL: owensc1 Does anyone have any experience of adding an after-market sports exhaust to a 987? I find the standard exhaust note a bit bland, especially after having the OEM sports exhaust fitted to my previous Porker (997 C2S). It was fabulous, with a really deep growl from low revs and amazing howl / shriek under acceleration. I looked at a retro-fit of this for my 2008 Boxster S (it's in the Tequipment catalogue), but was quoted £2,400 by the OPC - nearly double the factory-fit cost! I've seen other options from Miltek and Tubi online that are much cheaper and may fit one of those when the warranty runs out next year, but I'd like to find out what other users think as there's so few case studies on the web.
The following link will take you to my car fitted with the Carnewal conversion on the standard boxes ... IMO 100% perfect result achieved for very reasonable costs compared to the rest and best of all the rear end may look bog standard but the sound track is pure magic [;)] [link=http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=462555]http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=462555[/link] [link=http://www.carnewal.com/]http://www.carnewal.com/[/link] P87-1 / P87-1C : "GT" Exhaust The GT exhaust is a reworked original exhaust, modified in our workshop. It looks just like stock on the outside but the internals are changed to a better breathing, less restrictive exhaust. The result is a louder and deeper sound with no reasonance. On the cars with Tip gearbox, there is no droning between 2200 and 3000rpm. This exhaust does not trigger check engine lights and is not giving problems with emission checks during the yearly technical inspections like MOT. The GT exhaust is sold on a core exchange base : You get a "new" GT exhaust from us and within 3 weeks, you return your original exhaust. My 987S has a tubi exhaust fitted and I love it. The sound is wonderful through the rev band. I usually change my car every 2 years but I expect to keep this car a good deal longer. A big part of that is down to the tubi!

[link=http://www.scuderiasystems.com/root-media-porsche.html]http://www.scuderiasystems.com/root-media-porsche.html[/link] tubi are great(imho)for a wonderful howl when out for a quick blat if you plan to go driving for any more than say an hour or two ,or a longish journey the tubi would totally do my head in[:D] carnewal much better (again imho)for mixed use

one word of warning i test drove a 986 with a aftermarket exhaust and the drone at 2500 was dreadful so bad i didn't buy the car

Very true as I had 3x986 with after market and bespoke made sports boxes which were bad between 2600-3100 rpm HOWEVER my 987 with a Carnewal is absolutely perfect from tickover to red line with zero drone at any revs. Can highly recommend this conversion as being as, if not more, successful than the factory PSE
