Spring time weekend drives

Now (ok don't speak to soon), that Spring is nearly upon us in the environs of Aberdeenshire, I propose to instigate and at least contribute to organising some runs. A couple of weeks ago, I drove to Aviemore from Meikle Wartle via the whisky trail. I was quite a drive and with my limited knowledge of the area, I would suggest it is not a bad starting point. Perhaps somebody with more local knowledge could suggest a return route and somewhere to dine along the way.

Hi Jeff,
Did you take A96, turn off at Dufftown/Ryhnie road?
Would suggest that, follow road to Craigellachie, Aberlour, then turn off at the Delnashach Inn heading for Tomintoul, couple of nice places there to eat. Follow sign posts for Braemar, returning to Inverurie. Albeit wait a month for the Coatbridge/Tomintoul road to open again! A splendid Sunday run in my opinion.
Further afield, a blast to Ullapool hits the right spot, the police do their high speed driving tuition on that road. Came racing up behind an unmarked car one day doing 62mph [;)], only to see the sticker "police driver under instruction" on the rear bumper, ooops, however, decent chap then indicated me to overtake, anyway.........................I should be out for xmas.
I'm in the Moray area, so if you organise something, I would be delighted to join you.

Sounds like a good idea, if I'm at home then I'd give it a go. Unfortunately I'm new to the Inverurie area so I can't be more help with planning a route, sorry. Still would be a good run if there's a few of us there.
Mike.
