Hi there,
A friend of mine has just bought a 993 Targa. He would like to lower by about 30mm, and wanted to get some advice on springs. He wants car to sit lower but is also keen to ensure ride is not too rigid especially as he does not want to create issues with targa roof. Thoughts?

You need to worry more about the shocks than the springs, most people go for the Bilstein versions. The lowering kits tend to work well with the right dampers, ride tends to be a bit firmer and tighter on the bends and can improve on a tired original setup, but its no where as bad as putting 18" wheels on your car. Suggest you put 993 lowering kit into Google and read the feedback from the forums.

Seb,

See this thread: suspension refresh

I have a 993 Targa running an M033 / Bilstein HD setup. Excellent on good tarmac and on track, not so great on anything else as it's too firm. I don't even have it dialled all the way down. Some people are now using Koni FSD, with apparently good results, and if I were to do it again (unlikely!) I'd look at M033 / Koni FSD as an option.

If you're close to me I'm happy to give a ride in mine and you can see how it feels.
