Spurious oil pressure reading

As per post why does the oil pressure drop to zero, then it shows again for most of the time no problem ? very rarely does this and is okay most of the time, are there any known problems (faulty senders) ?

Yes, the senders are renowned for packing up - mine did at 12k miles. If your problem is intermittent it might be a dodgy connection, maybe on top of the sender itself? I ended up replacing mine but I have to say that I was never convinced that it could have been the sender itself as it was so young. I would check your connection on top of the sender first. Sounds like you might have been experiencing this for some time - so I would say that this would point more towards it being the connection rather than the sender unit itself.
