Spyder Test Drive Next Week!

Got invited to a Boxster driving weekend next weekend by one of our local PCs. Would have been happy to drive a gen 2 Boxster S but apparently they will have a Spyder available so it was a bit of a no-brainer to say I'd like a drive in that. Can't ever see me buying one but it should be fun to try it - hope it doesn't rain though!

Also managed to blag the Mrs a drive in an S at the same time (told her it was a valentine's day treat) - quite cunning really, as this is the car we are most likely to buy next!

Will report back afterwards.

Well done! [:)]

I was supposed to be getting an invite, but haven't heard anything yet...

Following quote is from the OPC that has me pencilled in for a test drive and who knows maybe an order [:D]

"the official first on road date from Porsche is 26/2, so we cannot drive before this date, but the car would be here a week before hopefully."

Is this an open invitation for anyone thats interested. Can you request a drive in a spyder at you local OPC ? Are these being arranged at the silverstone driver center or local dealers ?

I spoke to JCT Leeds and anyone can pre book a slot to test all 3 Boxster models which appear to be on loan for 3 days Fri/Sat/Sun from PCGB! JCT's actual demo car will not be available for demo's until end of the month.

My nearest OPC Hatfield tells me they can't start offering road tests until the official launch date which is 26/02/10

I spoke to Mayfair who tell me there demo's will start from March 1st onwards [&:]

It was a mistake !

They will contact me again due to the embargo date ... [;)]

But if you want to drive a Spyder, get booking !

This publicity can't have done Porsche any harm --- I seem to remember suggesting they should make one at an Outon Park hospitality day for the Carrera Cup in 2005/6 ?

And I will get to drive my car ?? sometime [;)]

I got a call today to say that the Spyder wouldn't be available but would I be happy with a Cayman S PDK instead? (Wife still down to drive the Boxster S!)
