Spyder...

Drive a friends car a couple of weeks back and was shocked at how good it was to drive.

Recent sale of my 993 [and difficulty in finding a replacement] meant a gap needed to be filled...

So a few days ago I impulsively bought a spyder! For anyone on the fence, I reckon it's one of the best that stuttgart has to offer, very impressed. Will try to get some photos up in the next couple of days.

Enjoy your Spyder, they are fabulous. Put a good few miles on mine over the weekend. More than the sum of its parts for sure.

Congrats!
I've bought one also. Hope to pick it up on Thursday. Cant wait! Only got to test drive one at low speed as it was very cold. Since then they have been selling too fast for me to get to test/buy one. Haven't yet seen the one i've bought. I'll post pics and spec in a few days.

Did you go for manual or PDK. I went for manual, partly due to limited availability of either, but I was edging towards manual anyway. I test drove a PDK and when I got back into my manual Cayman I felt I preferred how I can manipulate it. I would've learned to love a PDK had I have gone that route.

I have an inkling they these may turn out to be a bit of an investment[:-]

My research reckons there are around 235 UK Cars compared to 64 89 Speedsters 13 94 Speedsters 12 2011 Speedsters. If you kept it low mileage mint and immaculate by 2030 the cars may be making original list price if you go by what happened to the much rarer 911 Speedsters out there

According to dspyder.com total production was circa just under 2000 cars which compared to Speedsters worldwide sales is about as many as Porsche could hope for

In the meantime drive and enjoy the best value sports car the brand has ever made in it's 64 year history. Had mine out yesterday for a fabulous 40 mile blast and now looking forward to a nice long dry 2012 [8D]

When I went to a Silverstone Experience session for the then new 997 GTS the instructor told me without any prompting the most fun you can have in a Porsche today on track or road was in his opinion the Spyder!

After my mornings fun in the GTS I dropped off at OPC Silverstone who had a low mileage used car which after driving it for 10 minutes had me convinced my 6th Boxster had to be a Spyder [:D] 12 months on and the more I drive it the more convinced I have become that £ for £ this is as good as it gets and it's so nice to own a Porsche that causes so much positive feedback from the public and not the usual anti social behaviour Porsche drivers sometimes experience from other road users []

This.

I've had mine almost 2 years now and never cease to be amazed at the positive responses. I couldn't work out what I'd done to upset a van full of builders in Liverpool City centre on Thursday but it turned out he was flashing his lights at me so that one of them could take a picture, the rest were busy climbing out from the back to the cab giving me the thumbs up! Kids were asking to have their photo taken next to it when I visited relatives a couple of weeks ago and I got a big thumbs up from a van driver yesterday. Those of a shy disposition would be better off with a blue 911 - I never got any attention in that!

Thanks for all feedback and sorry for the delay in responding. The more I drive it, the more I'm convinced it has been one of my best car purchases to date.

Only thing I wish it had is PSE... Am ordering Gert's GT exhaust mufflers which sound AMAZING!
