Spotted this on Retro Rides, could make a nice restoration project.

Sounds nice. Berber is an incredibly comfortable and hard-wearing fabric, and there's something really special about the 1982 cars.

I tried to get as many of the first cars together as possible for the 25th anniversary in 2007. At the time we had over 1000 944s on the Register, yet only 12 1982 model year cars. We managed six, IIRC, including two with consecutive chassis numbers. I'd think that the very first cars will be the ones that hold value over time. Never make you millions, but nice to own a piece of Porsche history.

Mine's a 1982. Had those style seats, but knackered; they were bloody awful! Like that one though, although mine is lovely Lhasa Green....

I must buy an early 944 one day - but not with those seats !! Look like some ratty old sofa in a second hand furniture store..[:'(]

Ditto on the seats - (must be a personal thing) I would have to wear a flat cap and wellies to drive that......

I ended up buying an 83 model because I love the look of the older square dash, and the fact that it's unadulterated with power steering/air con etc.

Plainly talking rubbish, as I like them so they must be good. [:D]

After climbing out of Peter Empson's bucket seats and cage, I'd recommend those Berber seats to any slightly porky owner like myself. [&o]

Peters buckets are very comfy, just like the suspension and theres plenty of space, just like under the bonnet!
