Squeak! Mouse in my boxster?

Just thought I'd pass this on ...

I've had a very noticeable SQUEAK coming from around the passenger door for some time and couldn't figure out where it was coming from.

Initially I thought it was inside but after a while figured it was the passenger window rubbing against the actual door seal, it was worse when travelling down more bumpy roads. I assume its slight movement in the door causing the rubbing of the glass and rubber.

I had a can of 'J-SIL Silicone Spary' and worked around all the door rubbers with it, left it overnight then wiped it down and re-applied once again, followed by a further wipe down.

Guess what no-squeak ... completely gone ! [:D]

I'm was getting a slight residue appearing on the glass where the rubber is touching it, but, after a few wipes it has stopped appearing. It simply took a little time for the rubber to fully abosorb the Silicone.

the other common cause of squeeking is the headrest of the seat to be slightly touching the grill in the roll bars or for the buckle on the seat belt of an empty passanger seat to vibrate against the frame of the car [][]

Helen - good to see you've put your cars back on your signature. We're here to enjoy our cars, not hide them!

It took me a week to find that; just have to make sure the buckle is resting on the seat rather than the side...
