hi everyone, hope you all enjoying top down driving,
couple of things,
1. used jzmach last month , first time pleased to say they as good as everyone said, so cheers for that.
2. picked up a squeak from the drivers side top mount, look up history, and porsche surrey, lubricated the mounts last year, and reported problem fixed.
now noise returned.
firstly, i thought mounts are metal, (correct me if i am wrong) and sealed.
secondly, what lube to use lithium grease?
thirdly, on a scale of one to ten, how serious is the problem.
cheers for help

The top mount is a rubber bush, and the centre sleeve often separates from the rubber. I had mine replaced last month. There is no point in trying to lubricate the mount. Under the mount is an angular contact bearing, which might be what they are referring to. If you are going to grease it, maybe try some spray grease to try to penetrate the bearing.

There are some good photos of the top mount here: http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=53703

thanks for speedy reply, who changed the top mount for you,
and can i drive about till mit gets worse, or get on the case straight away,

I got them changed by my friend Tony Wright at www.wrightune.co.uk. After seeing them removed, they had obviously been like it for a long while, so I don't suppose it is an emergency. Depends on how bad they are, I guess.
