SQUEAKING BRAKE PEDAL

reevers

New member
My car has developed a "squeaking" noise when you press the brake pedal, even occurs when engine switched off. Been told that the linkages need oiled. OPC cost over £150.00

Does any one have any guidance notes/diagrams stating where the linkages are in order for a DIY attempt first.

Regards

Hi - these may be of assistance - they show where all the bush's are anyway. Suggest a Lithium based grease (Castrol LM or such) on the moving parts. Don't use WD40 ... Suggest using sparingly around the bellows / servo's if needed at all - noise is probably coming from the foot pedal side of things anyway.

Hope these help - you 'may' need to replace bushes if they are badly worn, but greasing them may solve the problem ..

Richard.

You still have to pay if you want a section of the workshop manual, but the parts lists, techniks (service information) and workshop tools info have always been free.

Did you manage to sort out the sqeak ? If so, which moving part was the culpret? May proove useful to others that want to try this when it happens to them .. including myself !

Cheers,

Richard.

Problem resolved, faulty brake switch was the culprit. The switch has a spring in it, which had developed a squeak, when pressing and unpressing the brake pedal.
