Squeaking heater fan/blower

Has anyone tried lubricating the heater/air blower fan motor to stop it squeaking. I presume its either dry bearings or the brushes?

I'm surprised no-one has had this problem; the main thing I was worried about was the fire risk of spraying cleaner or lubricant on/near an electric motor.
Well I got tired of the squeaking so I bit the bullet and did the following which seems to have worked without setting the car on fire. [:D]

Lever off the 3 plastic rivets that hold the fresh air intake cover on, just behind the firewall in the centre.
Operate the fan speed slider inside the car so that the hinged dome shaped cover over the fan lifts to its maximum opening.
You can now get access to the electric fan motor (although you can't remove it).
Turn off the ignition.
I then sprayed Halfords Electrical Contact Cleaner (£3.99) over the exposed parts of the motor. I wiped up any pooled excess and waited until the rest of the cleaner appeared to have dried.
I turned on the ignition and the fan started turning and squeaking . . . it then started slowing down and I thought trouble brewin' . . . but slowly the squeaking got less and the motor eventually got back to normal speed (as I assume the brushes cleaned up the commutator).
To counteract any ill effects of the cleaner on the motor bearing, I put a drop of oil on the top of the centre bearing.

No WD40 was used in fixing this problem!
