Squeaky Brake Pedal

My brake pedal has started to squeak on release of pedal. I tried lubricating the spring, it wasn't that. Interestingly once the engine is off, the squeaking stops. I'm thinking it must be where the linkage goes through the bulkhead to the master cylinder. But not sure. Has anybody else had this, know how to fix it, where to check etc. ?

Thanks in advance

Stuart

I occasionally get the same thing with the clutch pedal and it can take a couple of uncomfortable sessions upside down in the footwell until I get the spray grease into exactly the right spot to shut it up. Next year it dries out and the same thing happens all over again. Not sure why yours only squeaks with engine on??????

Yeah its bizarre. With the engine off the pedal firms up with a few presses. Maybe it's not travelling far enough to the point of squeak then? Not sure. I've totally soaked the spring mech with WD40 above the pedal. Makes no difference. I was trying to figure out where the pedal linkage goes after that. I think it shifts over to the passenger side before exiting through the bulk head, or does it?

Must be. Where does the pedal linkage connect, exit to engine bay? Passenger footwell?

I had exactly this on mine. I found it was coming from the somewhere behind the radio because the linkage passes behind there to get over to the servo. I just used lots of silicone spray on every bit of linkage I could find and after some use it went away.

Thanks Tom. Sounds about right. Will try and get in about the linkage and see if that helps.

yes the passenger footwell, there are some nylon bushes in there, pennies from Porsche but I chickened out of changing them, could not face a few hours of upside down time,

Cheers Waylander. Have noticed it only happens when the cabin warms up, so defo inside cabin, so need to get upside down and get some silicone spray into what I can see. Wish me luck!!
