Here is a mystery to solve...
When I bought the 944S the steering wheel was angled at about 1 oclock while travelling staight ahead. The car pull to neither the left or the right and it appeared that the steeringwheel had been removed and merely replace incorrectly. My intention was to staighten it out, but never got round to it.
When i bought the 18 inch wheels and dumped the 15inch teledials, suddenly the steering wheel was correct. No work has been done to the suspension either before or afterwards and definately not at the time of fitting the new wheels. The 15inch tyres where the same size, profile and make. A front wheel bearing was tightened which cured a persistent steering wheel vibration at 70mph but didn't affect the steering wheel position
Although the car has only done 80k I will be rebuilding the suspension and upgrading certain bits to cope with the extra rubber. (there is also a loud 'click' on accelation after braking hard. Right now it handles perfectly, unless the tyre pressure goes out of wack leaving some rather unhelpful understeer in the wet
Anyone have any suggestions as to what might have changed?
