You may see from other topics that this year's St George Rally will be the last ever. So get your name down quick as places are limited.

IT'S IN OUR REGION!

Why is it that it isn't being promoted in your region ? A 3rd party event is whereas this is not ? Curious Q that's all .......

Very good question!

Nick, Because no one actually asked us to or provided us with any information about the event possibly.

Alan.
That is because details were not finalised until just before the February Porsche Post. All the details were in that issue so you knew as soon as anybody.

Reasons
(1) The date wasn't finalised until December.
(2) The Board hadn't found a Sponsor and I had to do that and it wasn't sorted until the day before the February Porsche Post went to print.

It should be understood that this is a 'National Event' not a Regional one therefore Region 31 were not commited to promote it.

Geoff, got your message and will talk this week. [:)]

Sorry to be the bearer of more bad news, but as the rally is always a great event for the frontrunner registers it's a shame that the 968 register have organised an event two weeks before. Guess where? []

I hope some directors read this. Communications are completely shot at the moment, and I wish the ROs and RSs could co-ordinate dates.

It's mad that the 968 register is going to Gaydon two weeks before one of the longest-standing events that's always been a frontrunner day out.

Alan, I know it's not going to come across well here.... [&o].

The St George's Rally is always going to be on a date around, well, how can I put this?. It's kind of limited to a certain weekend, probably around St George's day? Seriously, do we need to remind all ROs and RSs that the Christmas open day might coincide with other events if they don't check, and book something in December?

Come on guys. Talk to each other and try to tie events in with each other? We're seeing diluted attendances, and that's because people are crossing the country going to the same places on different dates. It's crazy.

Paul, for the record we were informed the date of the St George Rally was on the 19th April and was changed AFTER we committed to Bicester and issued our 2015 events calendar. Last point, I am advised by Club HQ that St George Rally is NOT a National Event.

I afraid you are wrong Alan, Our Chairman, Events Director and Board all agree that the St George Rally is a National Event.

Moreover, Bicester is not even a Porsche Club event.

Gentlemen

With 30 Regions and 36 Registers we are inevitably going to have some overlap of events, no matter how hard we try to avoid that.

It is unfortunate that the St George's rally clashes with at least 2 Regional events, (see website calendar) but there is room for these events to co exist as we have '0000s of active members who make there own choice of which event to attend.

The St George's rally is always well supported and I have no reason to see that change this year.

In this era of digital communication we can all be guilty of inadequate communication despite our best efforts, so let's move away from pointing fingers and enjoy the club and its members for the reason we all joined up in the first place.

Yes, this is the relevant point... we all have more choice in the end[;)]

We have always had a policy that Regions should not run local events when a national event is being run, especially in the same Region. However, given that the St George Rally can only accommodate 150 or so members, I see no reason why that event cannot run alongside a local one.

On the other topic of communications, yes I agree communication is the key. It is all too easy for management to sit on information, especially if it is bad news. But members would rather hear what is going on and how their money is being spent than listen to gossip. So come of you lot, spread the official word... very easy in this 'era of digital communication'
