What's the secret of remedying the stale air from the heating and air conditioning? Don't want to disguise by hanging air freshener! Looking for cure. I suspect it's to do with the air conditioning bugs that need to be destroyed.

Although I'm new to Porsches, I've found on other cars that the following might help: Check for any water collecting anywhere, check drain pipes under the condenser, make sure no leaves etc have collected in any dark places, finally you could try an antibacterial air con spray (not sure where to get them but I know air con engineers use them). Hope this helps.

You need to run the system very regularly once it's sorted to keep things fresh. Don't run it for now if it smells 'cos the bugs can be harmful to your respiratory system!

Cheers,
Roddy

As Roddy mentioned, Halfords sell an aerosol which is meant to cure smelly air-con.[:'(]
It contains an anti-bacterial and lemon-flavoured air freshener...

You'll need to set your blowers to 'recirculate' the air inside the cabin. Switch on the engine. Turn the aircon and blowers on. Then put the aerosol in the car (on the floor I think and away from anything that might get spoiled by moisture) and click it's lid down. It will then spray it's contents into the cabin and will be circulated through the air-con system.

You leave it for about ten minutes and you're done.[;)]

Mine is not a a/c model but there are 2 filters in the scuttle panel behind/above the fuel tank that could need replacing. They are round and in each corner...they could be clogged/damp.

Dan,

Have you had this problem before and did changing the pollen filters make a difference?

Harry

Have this problem with Mercs and we tend to:
1.possible pollen filter replacement
2.Use a deodoriser spray(the favorite)
3.Blockage on drain tubes
