Stalling/Idle - Revisited

Hi All - My S2 has developed the eratic idle/ stalling when stopping at junctions/depressing clutch etc. It only occurs on a restart when the engine is warm and it is getting very annoying. I know there was a thread about this late Nov, however, it sort of petered out with no real answer. The couple of replies stated that one had changed the ISV and the other the AFM, but neither seemed to solve the problem. I have changed the DME relay just in case but with no effect.
I have the almost obligatory condensation from water leaks various (to be sorted soon) and was wondering if it might be moisture in the electrics or is it the ISV/AFM????
I bow to your collective knowledge.

The only time my car had low idling issues it turned out that it was running too lean. My specialist tried to re-adjust the mixture but the adjustment screw was siezed and wouldn't budge. I replaced the AFM (luckily he had a 2nd had one that looked almost new) and it was solved.

It might be worth checking your mixture at idle just to cross this one off your list. Also you could try just adjusting the idle speed screw on the throttle body. It might be that at some stage the car has been jacked up incorrectly which can pull on the throttle cable and affect your idle speed.

Hope this helps.

Likely to be...

Throttle position switch
Fuel pressure
Vacuum leak
distributor cap/rotor arm
or
it could even be an engine sensor such as coolant temp sensor (ECU one) or one of the engine position sensors

Garth, I was watching this post with interest as my S does exactly the same. Please let me know if you find a cure. I've eliminated the AFM and ignition system but not the other components that Jon mentions above.
