Stalling

Hi Guys

I find my 996 TT is easy to stall especially when reversing [:)] compared to my C2 is that typical?

The clutch has stiffer springs, so in order to keep the pedal pressure low, it is hydraulic I believe. You press the pedal and rather than activate a cable, there is a cylinder that activates it, like the brakes.
It makes it easier to drive, so that in traffic your leg doesn't start jumping, like on some of the older cars.

I don't think this is the reason though.
The gearing is part of it, but I think it is just that there is not much torque below 1000rpm and the abrupt clutch just makes it easy to stall.
I have (mostly) got used to it. I haven't stalled for a few months. In the first two days, I think I did it about 6 times.

I nearly stalled trying to get out of the showroom when I picked it up - I didn't want to give it too many revs since 20 feet in front of me was another 911. I just had this vision of shooting forwards and crashing the thing within 2 secs of owning it.
 
It does let you know when it hasn't enough revs though it takes a little getting used to and in that sense is not as forgiving as other cars. Luckily I have only managed to stall it when putting it in my garage, a roundabout a night and dropping my wife of at a friends.

But I am learning....
