Standard Brake Disc Diameters

I believe 282.5mm for the front and 290mm for the rear, each 24mm thick. This is why the 944T/964 caliper over 944T rotor is a nice little upgrade. You get a 299x28mm rotor and a nice stiff 4 pot caliper.

While we are at it, 930 rotors are 304x32mm (fr) and 309x28mm (rr) and 993TT Big Reds are 322x32mm (fr) and 322x28mm (rear).

While I don't know the measurements, the Boxster rotors are more like SC/Carrera size - 300mm x 24/20mm - and 996 / Boxster S rotors are more like 964 size - 310mm x 28/24mm. The 993s had bigger brakes than the 996. Also FYI, a Ferrari 355 uses brakes no bigger than a 964 and a Ferrari 430 without ceramics uses brakes no bigger than a 996.

Last night I read the 911World article on the novice trackday 968 owners and was astonished that after one session (10 laps) a number of these novices were thinking of brake upgrades. They may be surprised to find they have brakes that are as big as an F355 which has over 100hp more than a 968 and which is not considered to be under braked.
