Standard seats

Hi folks; wonder if anyone can help or has experienced this themselves.

Last week or so I've been getting some neck pain having driven the 997; it's right in the middle of my neck and it only comes on after I've been driving the 997 - I don't get it in my other car or at any other time, so fair to say it's related I think.

What I think I've narrowed it down to is the standard seats seem to push my shoulders forward just a fraction, making me hunch in the seat a bit and giving me the neck pain - which is a bit of a pain in the neck ... has anyone experienced this and found either a) a seating position that worked or b) contemplated fitting a different seat or c) contemplated getting the current seat adjusted by a vehicle upholstery place?

thoughts?

I don't think I've come across this before...
Hopefully someone with the standard seats will reply, I have the sports seats which I think is the basic shape as standards and don't suffer from anything like this..

Matt, have you got the seating position and steering wheel height set correctly in the first place? Not sitting too far back for example? In the manual cars I used to set the seat so that I could get full travel on the clutch but still have a slightly bent left leg, then get the back of the seat at a comfortable incline and then move the steering wheel so that without taking my back off the seat I could rest my wrists on the top of the wheel. Had the wheel positioned vertically so that the top inside of the rim just cleared the top of the instruments. Worth a try before you splash out on new seats or upholstery work!

It may sound silly but have you tried adjusting the lumbar support so that it pushes the small of your back forwards because this will naturally allow you to flex your shoulders back a little? Personally, as a 6'1" tall fat person I find the standard seats are remarkably comfortable. I'm sorry that something is interfering with your enjoyment of the 997 and I hope that you get it sorted quickly and cheaply.

I've tried adjusting the seat a bit lately to alleviate it - perhaps a bit more tinkering is in order. I've just come back from Leicester and been a bit uncomfortable on the way back, despite enjoying the A47 ...

Re. Evo ... I wondered who'd spot that [:D]
