Standard textar pads

Hilux

Morning all,

For all of you at work you`ll all be pleased to know I have a day off today..........................[8D][8D][:)]

I`ve had enough of the PF pads messing up my wheels on the road. Until I powder coat them `Anthracite` I`ve an immaculate set of Cup 1`s and dont want them looking cr*p.........so.............

I`m going to fit standard pads for the road as I dont drive like a tw*t (not all the time) and keep the PF for the track alongside my old (ruined) D90`s

Where`s the best place to get the standard Textar pads? I asked for Textar pads at GSF (they even state they are Textar) and got some dodgy looking Mintex instead (which I refused)

I'd have thought Bert would probably be your first option

Incidentally, I've just cleaned the car after my wet trackday at Oulton a couple of weeks ago. The car was absolutely filthy, & I was a bit worried about what I'd find under the layer of PF97 brake dust, but the fronts don't look any more marked than previously (they aren't mint, especially round the edges). The dust & dirt came off very easily. I used this stuff on the wheels (and paintwork) to try & protect them.

I'm not expecting it to provide complete protection - If I had a set of immaculate Cup 1's I'd either sell them or keep them well away form track days [:D]. I do have a set of new 9" Cup 3's waiting for track tyres. I can't decide whether to sell them (too nice for track work), use them as is or get them painted / powdercoated black.

Before I got the PF97's I bought all my front turbo pads from the local GSF which is less than a mile away. I always ordered part number P64029 for around £40 (they were £27 once []) and mostly I would get Textar pads, occasionaly Pagid, but the last time it was Jurid. They all did the job quite happily and for that price would last 4 trackdays at sub 300bhp levels [;)]

You could always get EBC pads. They won't ruin your rims (and may not stop you either). []

It had `green stuff` on it originally which were fine. I also used `green stuff` with great effect on the admittedly lighter G27 and Westfield I once owned.

You werent trying hard enough [;)] ...................

The PFC`s baked themselves into my D90`s, not badly but it definitely will not shift. Seems worse when its wet as it happens after a fast road outing too [8|] Note that I have cross drilled discs, dont know if thats a contributory factor as they shear the pad more than smooth discs.

I had original "Geen Stuff" on our Freelander and they were great - didn't make any obvious dust but worked. From what I have heard they have changed the formula since then. They are no longer clean or particularly good as I understand.

I currently have Red Stuff on the front and their cold performance borders on dangerous.

Hi John, so if you trundle down the shops or to the local beer church without any effort they simply dont work well??

PS: I now mostly have ordered some Textar originals. Andy at Promax was cheapest. Dont know why I didnt ask earlier as my car's in there being repaired..
