Hi Folks, we were out at Silverstone yesterday, Tom put in a 1m 10s lap to put us mid-field. I as usual was a couple of seconds more cautious.
All went well until pit-stop driver change when the b***dy thing would not re-start, we bumped it and got a 17th finish. The pit-stop lap was a horrendous 2m 39s.
The problem is strange the starter motor is not even turning, the ignition key lights everything up, and there's a faint whirring sound (normal) you turn the key the extra bit, as to start, the whirring stops and nothing............ It not a jammed started motor as the lights don't dim or anything indication heavy current pull or bad earthing. just nothing.................. the key springs back and the whirring recommences.
Been underneath it this morning and cannot see anything untoward under the car , solenoid and starter motor look fine. We've wrapped the exhaust so it doesn't get over heated, it looks A1 underneath.
I took the FIA cut-out switch off and inspected the rear, that looks fine.
Any ideas where to go next?
Gerry
