starting after winter break

After the winter when I come to starting my 911 it dosen't want to start. It worked Ok before the winter and no problems. Are there any routine procedures that people commonly do after a winter break to start their motors. eg do spark plugs get covered in oil hence reason for not starting and so are taken out and cleaned.

Have you used a trickle charger over winter? If you havn't then the battery is very likley to be flat, certainly the first thing to check!

What Kevin says, check all the obvious stuff, like fuses, fuel (put some fresh in as petrol does go stale), can you hear the fuel pump start up?

Even if the battery has enough oomph to turn the engine it doesn't necessarily mean its got the guts to put enough power into the ignition system.

Plugs shouldn't be oiled, you can pull and check all the HT leads.

Really these cars like to be used regularly, remember once/if you get it started that the brakes will take a few miles to get back to 100% so take it easy.

Report back and let us know.

Yes checked the battery and try to charge up, but won't fully, so replaced it. still not starting. The sound of the fuel pump- where would you listen to it and what sounds do you need to listen out for?

yes I agree the car is perfect when using in summer but seems a bit of a pig on first start of spring.

fuel pump is under the fuel tank, but thinking about I think they start fully until the engine is actually running

would be a buzzing noise if its working, but like I said I think it runs for a short time to prime the EFi and shuts off until the engine starts.

Do you have a spare DME relay you can try?
