Went out today, switched off pa2000 remote to open doors as usual, turned the key and the starter made a small atempt at turning and then stopped,it did this a few times then turned over freely and started,i am pretty sure the battery is ok/charged,the car has done 95000 (c2).
Do you reckon the starter is packing up or is there another common fault on the starting system of these models????

Its nearly always the battery in cases like this. I left mine outside with the doors open when cleaning it and the interior lights had drained the battery over 2 hours.

I'd go for the starter being the prime suspect. Generally, in my experience, if it was a battery problem you wouldn't have got it started at all. My C2S is a nightmare for eating batteries, but when it's a battery problem all I get is the car trying to crank over followed by the alarm sounding. I'm not entirely sure that it would be an alarm problem either, because surely you wouldn't even have it trying to crank if the immobiliser was kicking in?

Afterthought - One thing to check could be the infamous DME relay, although I'm not sure what the exact symptoms of one of these going are.

Oliver

Cheers,i will give the battery an overnight charge, and see if it get better for a while, then look at the starter,i might buy a dme relay its something ive been meaning to get as a spare.
Cheers again Dan
