What plug is this Simon as you also know having starting problems also ?

Just seen this Jim, but I had posted about the plug on another thread where you mentioned your problem. As an aside this prevented my own car from starting last week: the symptom was a completely unresponsive tachometer needle when cranking.

Its too late to take a photograph tonight, but I will try Googling for one after I have posted this. There is a plug in a horizontal wire which runs along the rear of the cam carrier and immediately in front of the firewall. Its brown plastic and rectangularish in shape. I wouldn't expect it to be visibly separated, but hold both parts and push them back together with a wiggle and all the force that you can bring to bear.

As far as I am aware it hasn't been an issue on my Turbo in 25yrs and 200,000 miles, but it did it the other weekend. My 2.7l did it regularly when it was 15yrs old and had covered half the mileage and it had been an issue for the previous owner too. I also owned a nearly new / 20,000 mile car which occasionally played up in this manner, but that was probably caused by me unplugging it whenever I had to leave it in an airport carpark when travelling with work...

Not an ideal picture because its too close, but this is it, I think:

Approach from the offside.

Bruce, busy getting the 220 for sale [:(] new belts and various other jobs, so the 88 car has been ignored, went and jacked it up and turned the wheels 180 degrees to get around flat spots, Continentals seem bad for it.
Another poster had a similar issue with non starting one of the indy's picked it up and sorted it with KLR control unit, shoud be looking to swap that out at the weekend and hopefully get it back to health.
Hopefully this will be my problem ?
I will post when i eventually bottom it out.
