Starting problems

When I dont get to drive my 993 C2 for 2 weeks or so I have to jump start it. And when I do use it it tends to be low mileage round London. The battery itself I'm told is ok. This low charging and prolonged use of an alarm seem to be the contributory factors to a flat battery.

It was suggest that I get a Battery Power Pack - such as ones from:

The problem is to choose the right one. They range from 40-1000 GBP in price due to current output and capacity. How much current is needed to cold start an early 993 C2?

Has anyone got opinions about using these powerpacks? They are certainly more convenient than jumpstarts. Has anyone used one with a built in air compressor? The one recommended to start 300bhp engines tend to be bulky, heavy and very expensive, so I'd like to know what I can get away with.

(The other option is to use a battery charger/conditione but as I have a drive rather than a garage I wouldnt to trail a mains lead out of the house.)

Incidentally, what is a good earth point under the bonnet for the negative jump lead in the? So far I've had to use the battery negative terminal as I cant find one, and it doesnt seem to have any bad effects doing that.

regards,

Jan
