Stat nav updating.

Anyone else have a stat Nav that is constantly updating. So fed up with seeing the ring of doom spinning where there should be a map.

To find new routes or places we are starting to have to rely on google maps on our phones rather than the cars stat nav system.

I had a period with no live traffic in the spring. Since then navigation can be slow to load sometimes. in recent weeks I have noticed several attempts to over the air update maps have failed but I currently have working nav and live traffic.

Best thing to do, considering how rubbish Porsche sat nav is, Helen... much easier too[:)]

My Sept 2019 Gen II car had a couple of hiccups during the summer where the real time congestion colour coding was not present (a central server issue, I believe) but that aside I don't recognise any of the problems mentioned. Google Maps is indeed excellent but its only feature I'd like to see added to the Porsche is the route planner. The My Porsche app seems to hint at something similar but I've not managed to get it to do anything, a "tour" comes down to adding individual destinations via the PCM.

You can plan a route in Google maps on your laptop (limited to 10 waypoints) send it to your Iphone, then reproduce it on your PCM using Car Play by selecting Google maps from the menu.
Sometimes the route doesn't exactly match up due to the different ways Google and IPhone interpret data, but usually this just means adding or repositioning waypoints.
Each waypoint becomes a destination in the PCM, so you must select "continue" each time one is reached in order to complete an entire route.

Regards,

Clive

But Clive, I don't own an iPhone, or for that matter any other Apple device, and I never will. Was I supposed to get one as a freebie with the car? Got nowt else, not even fuel!

Be really nice to use the porsche system but most of the time all we have on the screen is the updating ring of doom. It won’t even show us the maps

Helen, you have my sympathy, I've not had any issues with it (but I'd still like the ability to load routes from an Android device) and love it. After over two years of ignoring the voice control, I've now adopted that as my primary input method too, just love it! Give the dealer a kick and get it sorted.
