Steering & brake noise

Strange one this.

Since the middle of last month on occasions when I turn the steering wheel, whilst stationary, there is a noise. The noise is loud enough for my partner to notice, and she tends to be deaf to most car noises. It sounds like rubber bushings "squeaking". It is not the usual noise a Porsche makes when reversing the car on a tight lock, i.e. that "popping" type sound.

I have just dropped it off at an OPC to check out and they think it may be caused by the rear brakes as I could only replicate the noise at the OPC when I had my foot on the brake. The noise this time was similar to when one has put the hand brake on, but not quite enough, and the car moves slightly forward when you get out. The OPC person said this was normal.

But, the car is 20K old, I have had it from new and this has only been started happening since December. I have never experienced it on any other car. The car was serviced a couple of months ago and no comment was made about the rear discs being rusty, in fact the OPC said they should last until the 40k service at the current wear rate.

Has anybody else exprienced this? Sorry for the vagueness of describing the sounds, but as we all know describing a sound can be very difficult.
