Steering Fluid Reservoir - Hose

Hi

Can anyone advise what the hose is for on the steering fluid reservoir ie simply a breather, or does it have any 'mechanical' effect (vacum )

Mine looks like its snapped off about an inch down from the clip connecting it to the reservoir body.

Steering fluid level is fine, car doesn't drive adversely, just can't find the rest of the pipe

I think it must just be a breather pipe. Mine just goes down and under the positive power terminal. I couldn't see anywhere obvious for it to connect. Sorry I couldn't get a decent shot of the open end of the pipe.

Richard, Many thanks..puts my mind at rest - I'll get it replaced proper next time I'm at the garage but as its just a breather there is no real rush.
