steering pulls heavily

childish

New member
Just recently purchased a 911 (99 reg) and i have noticed that when the camber of the road changes suddenly, the steering wheel pulls heavily to one side. the same problem occurs when i hit a bump in the road. when i bought the car they replaced the discs and pads on the front wheels. i wondering whether it was a problem with the psm or the new discs and pads. anyone got any ideas.

Sounds about right to me. These cars do tramline heavily on some surfaces. Just hang on and give it more beans [:D]

I'd get a full wheel alignment done first. You'll also find that some tyres are worse than others, especially when worn - I have P-Zeros, and they tramline badly on worn road surfaces. Fine when new, but after 3000 miles.......dreadful.

I agree with Richard, but I'd say your symptoms could also be worn suspension arm bushes &/or ball joints. Definitely worth getting them checked out also.

I fully agree with Bull996's comment. If you have never driven a 911 before then it's something that you will get used to. I remember my 1st 911, I came away from the first drive with cramp in my hands from holding on to the steering wheel so tightly.

Crikey - how many miles do you get from a set of P-Zeros ... 3,000 sounds like they should still be nearly new.

I think you misunderstood me. The tramlining was dreadful after 3000 miles. I fitted a complete new set of P-Zeros, and got about 13000 out of the rears. The fronts were less than half worn at that time, so I put a new pair of rears on. I'm looking forward to wearing them out, so I can replace the lot with something different.
