Steering pump

Hoping there's someone out there can give me some help.
My 997 makes noises going over speed humps, under braking and unless my ears deceived me, under tick over once or twice as well.
Sounds like someone blowing a Vuvuzela - a low pitched drone.
At first I thought it was a brake pad but it can't be as it happens going over bumps as well as under braking.
I'm thinking steering pump / brakes servo !?!? Scratching me 'ed a bit to be honest.
Has anyone had the same ?
