Steering rack bushes

Since you’re struggling to obtain just the bushes maybe you consider purchasing a refurbished rack? More expensive of course, but cheaper than the Porsche item.
This outfit seem to have a decent reputation and although they don’t offer a refurbished rack for your Cayenne perhaps some parts from their VAG offerings will work with your rack:

Just a thought though, and it would be worth getting your mechanic to check the front suspension components for play as well as making sure that the geometry is within spec.

when reversing (at very low speed) while turning the steering wheel the car seems to vibrate / judder
Is the issue when locking to both right and left ?
Is there a `clicking` noise from either wheel - side - area ?
seems to think the bushes in the steering rack may be gone
Has he inspected the area whilst up on a lift ?
When lifted and in ‘steering lock‘ all looks/sounds good just seems to happen when on the ground (with weight of the car) that vibrate/jubber.
Incidentally, I had that specific problem the other day when reversing the Cayman off the drive, which surprised me because it wasn’t particularly chilly [>7 degC].

Motorhead said:If it was a pump cavitation issue Andrew then surely the vibration would occur when driving forwards as well and Colm says that it only happens when reversing?
When reversing `on lock`
It`s a `load` thing ... working on the principle of resistance
A steering lock operation at slow speed requires the system to `work` harder than at other times, sometimes noted by an increase in idle speed if operating the steering wheel at rest ... on some vehicles
Possible belt slippage and / or a pressure control issue within the pump - system (e.g. internal relief valve passing)
Isn`t it grand what a few assumptions and speculation can conjure up
Belt and braces ... increase tyre pressure by one bar and see what happens
