steering wheel removal

How do you remove the 4-spoke steering wheel? I've tugged as hard as a dare at the horn panel but it doesn't feel like it will budge, and I can't find any hidden fixings.

Are we talking about the 'buttock' (airbag model) or this one:

If it's this model, keep pulling - the horn pad does come off, but was certainly extremely stiff the first time I tried with mine (much easier now it has been freed up).

I have no experience of the buttock, so if that's your wheel I really don't know.

Yep, it's the one that you posted a picture of, thank goodness. I'd hate to think where the thread would descend to if it was a buttock problem.... [;)]

I'l have a go, but it feels like the mounting points are an inch or so inboard of the ends, so all my pulling is bending the ends but not releasing whatever it's held on with. It feels a bit 'bendy'.

so tonight, I'll be pulling like crazy........[:D] report to follow. It'll probably fly into a million bits and I'll smash the seat reclining mechanism as I collapse back into it. Oh well, here goes.

Phil

Blimey, that takes some pulling. But it's off.

Thanks for the info Dan, it's good to know that you should keep tugging away and you haven't missed a cleverly hidden screw.

Phil
