Steering Wheel

OK. I am getting fed up with the pedals and steering wheel being in the wrong place in relation to each other. If the pedals are the right distance from where I sit, I cannot reach the wheel while if the wheel is right. my legs are too squashed.

I suspect the answer is to fit an extension boss to effectievly lengthen the steering column. That way, the wheel will be closer to me when my legs are in the most comfortable position. Does anybody know if such a boss is made and if so, where do I get one.

Many thanks

Simon

Definitely do exist , mine is about 3 inches and is MOMO , ther are a few different types and sizes in the DEMON TWEEKS catalogue
i do hope Jimbers doesnt let the tone of this thread deteriorate !

like Vics mine is also of 3" length and ribbed. Momo also do the steering wheel with porsche stamped on it on one of the spokes in the proper font so it looks less max power than a std aftermarket one [;)]

Boss (bought from Demon Tweeks) and "dished" wheel combination work fine for me (I am 6-3). The benefit of dished wheel is that my knees do not get in the way of my steering inputs. Right combo makes a big difference in terms of driving comfort, especially with sticky tyres on twisty tracks.

Vic....I have a reputation to think of now you know!

But in this case being a short arse I find the position ok now I've had the throttle built up to accomodate H&T changes!. With my wrist on the top of the wheel for track work I'm spot on and OK for road work.....which I find I'm doing less and less of any way......3.8 racer beckons if I can make some cash in the next 12 months and get the 3.6 going reasonably quick!

At risk of raising a matter you posted in another thread,

'...who would want a LHD car in black with a non original steering wheel'

Have a lhd RS with Sparco dished wheel - comfortable and quick! [:D]

Wheel available in 2 depths worth trying both if you can to get the most comfortable setup.
As another thought - which sadly only occured after I bought the above, there are bosses available to provide a quickly detachable wheel (good for security) - these provide slightly more depth than a std boss.

do like those suede steering wheels and the detachable thingy.......my other hand of course was pulling the lever, and going back and forwards, and back and forwards and back and forwards....until the seat got to hot!

Fat boys detachable thingy ........from Momo, silly money , but safest and best one IMO abt£300 i seem to remember............cheap ones have been known to snap off let alone wat else !

just expanding on what Vic said....the momo quickrelease hub (red) not listed in the 2005 demon tweeks catalogue but I had one fitted in 2002 , part cost about £150 , together with a dished momo wheel (black suede) mod 07 cost about £70....you can get same wheel for 3X this price if you want 'porsche' written on the spoke in yellow .....all works best with lhd as your legs are not contorted over the offset pedals of rhd [:D]

...who would want a LHD car in black with a non original steering wheel''.............. me!! I think you tried it, Momo boss with 3 inch extension and dished momo wheel. Your welcome to come and try it for size again if you want to check it provides right clearance. Make driving position very comfortable.

Regards

I can see how the dished steering wheel would help but I want to keep it looking original particularly as the car has the optional colour coded RS wheel. I am hoping that a 3 inch extension boss will do what I want and still leave the car looking original.
