Just fitted this Momo BG quick release boss today. That would give you all the leg room you need getting in. And added security as its hard to steal a car with no steering wheel

I know it doesn't look anything like an original, but it looks discreet enough for me and it feels nice to hold.
Looks fine to me. [:)] I have back issues and getting in and out is a challenge sometimes! []

Thought I'd post a pic of my new wheel.

This change came out necessity as with a knee made mostly of plates and pins, I really struggle to get out of the car (other 944 owners struggle to get out? They have a bit of an addictive side...). So, I decided to get a flat bottomed wheel to give an extra couple of inches leg room.

I really didn't want a wheel that looked like a reject from a computer game or like it had come out of an F1 car. I decided on the Momo Commando, ordered it, a boss and a Porsche crested horn push.

I am really impressed with the quality of the wheel - but then I am a sucker for Momo wheels. The crested horn push was a bonus.

Yep, I've used that security method (well, standard wheel and carried a 24mm AF socket!), the only problem is, the steering wheel is one of the aids to getting out! (agree with the poster that reckons teh 924T dash is the best of the 924/944/968 series too)

I always hated the steering wheel on the 944. So I have just bought a momo gotham wheel and boss kit from demon tweeks. Its at home whereas I am in Romania with work at the moment but only have another week to go and then will be home and get a chance to fit it. In the meantime anybody got this steering wheel in a 944 so can you give me a taster of what it is going to look like and post a pic (or any other momo wheels, so can see what boss if like). Its black and I have a burgundy interior so not sure how its going to come out but looking forward to finding out, hopefully it will drive nice also, cheers all

I don't have that specific wheel but have fitted a Momo Millenium Sport wheel and Momo boss, slightly smaller and flat bottomed plus (in my opinion) more comfortable than the original see below:

All those wheels look great. May look into a quick release boss - never even thought about it - and I have used them in the past!!! D'oh!

I have an unidentified wheel in mine. Cheap off eBay, but I think it's a momo item. It is a great improvement on the original; the original looks great, but it's a bit big and thin to hold. I'd quite like a Porsche horn push. Where do you get those from? Oli.

I have a Momo Prototipo in mine, but it is heavily worn and gets very sticky and horrible if I drive for any length of time. I have tried cleaning it with leather wipes, but might have to give in and buy a new one, some good ideas here. I have been recommended a CS wheel from a 968, but they seem to always go for £280 on fleabay

The 968 wheel is too thick, in my opinion. It looks nice and it feels nice to hold, but if you have one on a car then its far from ideal. I sprinted my 968 and fitted, and later sold it with, a Momo Corse and it was a great improvement. That was in the mid nineteen nineties - I dont think that current buyers would have entertained the car without its original wheel... Oli, if its a Momo then it wont be unidentified - they are branded front and rear and the rear carries a part number and manufacturing date. Look-alike Italian wheels frequently ape the look and shape and much of the stamping too, but if it doesnt say Momo, then it isnt... I have a suede race wheel as described and its the equal of the (many!) Momos that I have, so I wouldnt worry.

My turbo came with one of those and I initially had the same feeling as I was coming from the S2 with the original steering wheel however it eventually grew on me, it's nice to have a thick wheel when having to do quick changes in direction on fast twisties. When driving sedately though I must say the standard wheel feels more natural, less obtrusive than the thicker CS wheel.

Oh now that is interesting. Thanks. In which case I don't have a Momo wheel. Still - as you say, it's OK and I'm happy with it. (And it cost me less than £20 on eBay, so was a bargain!) [:)] Oli.

Speaking of wheels, on my 924S it sits way too low I can spacer a dished one out to miss knees no probs but any known way to raise the steering columm?

Don't think so, I'm tall but last owner was really tall! The normal seats are on their way out for buckets anyway, so will see how the wheels sits when spacerd out & a nice dished (fake) Momo is on there

Its a personal preference certainly. Neil and I agree, I think, but most of the other members think that we're mad.

ORIGINAL: tref No, but you can check you don't have raising blocks under the seat!
That's the problem I had when I first got mine. I wondered how the hell anybody managed to drive them. I only found the spacer blocks when I managed to drop a spanner under the drivers seat and had to remove it. I fit under the wheel quite nicely now!
