Steering Wheels

Has anyone anything other than the std sports steering wheel on their 997
Having come from an M3 csl mine feels like something from an 80s Merc.
I find the options list somewhat confusing on this subject (is it me ) and just want a slightly smaller diameter,say20mm with thicker padding on the rim.

I have a standard wheel and the rim is certainly thinner than I am used to from BMW.

I did read somewhere recently that 'good drivers' drive with their fingertips as it helps with the feel of the car blah blah blah

Been trying to do this and (psychologically anyway) my driving is better and don't hanker after a thicker steering wheel anymore

I also had a m3 before my car and the first thing I noticed was the thinner steering wheel, personally I always found the m3's wheel a bit to bulky, I don't know about driving with your fingertips though? I think it's more a case of driving with the palm of your hands resting on the wheel in relaxed state( if you know what I mean ) and for this I've found that I prefere the porsches less padded wheel has worked better for me.

ant.

I'm also an ex M3 man and appreciate your comments. I have the multi function wheel on the 997 but I think the rim diameter is the same as the standard item. Having got used to the slimmer feel its fine by me, just adds to the delicate feel of the whole thing. Nice.

Had a BMW 120d Sport for a day last monday ( which Clarkson would say has an 'enormous' steering wheel and didnt even notice the difference. Must have made the mental adjustment already.

Another M3 owner here!

I've ordered the thicker sports wheel for my car, as I found the standard sports rim on the C4S too thin, particulary compared with the chunky item on the BMW.
