Stereo head units?

My car currently has a horrible flip down 1990's Sony head unit which I absolutely detest.

Any recommendations for something a little more in keeping with the interior? Maybe some sort of Becker?

The old Nakamichi stereos were incredible quality and looked simple. Certainly a good one to look for.

Edit: They seem to have changed to a Pioneer, sony copy with the more recent designs.

I have the Becker Cascade pro which took a bit of hunting down but well worth it. The becker units look more standard than anything else I think.

The Becker Grand Prix 7990 looks great in the 944 and lights match display too. Took a while to hunt one down and then needed to track down a mic for the handsfree. Only thing I miss is streaming music direct to head unit..

Some of the Blaupunkt head units are quite discreet and look good in a 944. Being Blaupunkt, they sound very good too.

This is a Blaupunkt Woodstock in my S2. It's DAB and has a memory card slot, and was a stupidly expensive thing in it's day. You seem to be able to pick them up for comfortably less than £100 on eBay these days. The style suits the later dashboard fairly well and the colour of both the screen and the buttons can be changed to suit the 944 illumination.

Oli.

Becker for me. Indianapolis in the 944, a land rover branded traffic pro for the old range rover and a cascade pro for, well whatever comes next!

I have a Blaupunkt Paris RCR41 which was an option in the 911's of the time...apparently it's "vintage"!

I know it's a cassette player but I also bought a bluetooth streaming cassette (you can get them from Maplin) which streams the audio from my mobile (http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/ion-in-car-bluetooth-cassette-adapter-a21zt?gclid=Cj0KEQiAjMC2BRC34oGKqY27jtkBEiQAwSXzfkUjJ1y7TKbDncvPxHDor1rFBTNpLldauVQG1RiDiwYaAurq8P8HAQ).

Works really well if you can hear past the noisy cassette player! The microphone isn't too bad either.

Nice to have streaming audio to the head unit....I don't even have that in my 2011 BMW!

No worries. I thought it was common knowledge and that I was the last to know!

Maybe mark the answer as helpful for others playing catchup with technology as stereo head unit questions do come up from time to time!

Apparently I'm unable to mark myself as helpful although I do try! :ROFLMAO:
