Stereo wiring - HELP!

Apparently electrics aren't my strong point. I've pulled out the original Panasonic F35 to replace it with a Blaupunkt Woodtsock 54 that I already had previously, and I've decided that it would be best to convert it to ISO. So I've bought a some male iso plugs with wires all flopping out the back and some bullet connectors. But I want to be sure what I'm doing before I cut all the wires, and I can't find the guide on Clark's.

Can anybody help me identify the clumps of wires in my photo:

A - connected to the big (nine pin?) plug; is this the aerial?
B - yellow=constant 12v; red=switched 12v; brown=ground; orange & white=???; black=???
C - Or is this the aerial? I've found that the spade parts need to be touching to get the radio to be loud enough
D - Is this the dimmer?
E - I'm pretty sure that these are the speakers (the colours correspond to the colours in the iso harness)

Cheers,

Neil

Here' a conversion i made. Car is a S2 cab imported from Japan. It has Sony system installed, but those radio frequencies does not work in Europe. Owner of this S2 wanted to chnage to Blaupunkt with ISO connectors

Thing is mate you can't expect anyone to make fair judgement on what wires may or may not have been put in your car over the last 20 years. Especially when it comes to stereos. You just have to get a multimeter and some long test wires and have due diligence to do voltage and continuity tests to find out where each goes and what they do in terms of supply or speaker feeds. It's a rubbish job I am afraid.

Can't for the life of me remember what the colour code was from when I replaced the stereo and converted to ISO plugs on my 944 so i've googled:-

Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Yellow
Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Red
Car Radio Ground Wire: Brown
Car Radio Illumination Wire: N/A
Car Stereo Dimmer Wire: Blue
Car Stereo Antenna Trigger Wire: White

Re the speaker wires - I think you've correctly identified them. To isolate the speakers I usually use a normal AA batery across the terminals for a brief moment - you will hear which speaker is which.

Has your's got the 10-speaker upgrade? If so I think that has a amplifier somewhere. That could explain the second large dia black cable as mine only had one - the ariel. The aerial cable also had a smaller black wire coiled around it which was the feed for the ariel amplifier.

OK guys, thanks for that; I'll dust off the multimeter and see what I can do. Interesting point about the 10 speaker upgrade Scott - I'll look into this.

Very tidy work by the way Olli; I'll be happy if I can get mine to look half as good as that!

Cheers,

Neil

I've wired up the stereo and it mostly works. Except some (but not all) radio stations are now a bit fuzzy, and the rear speakers aren't working.

That is probably down to this:

Does anyone know what this is (except for just an 8 pin plug)? Is it for an amplifier? (I don't have a 10 speaker upgrade.) I can't find what it connects to as it disappears into the bulkhead.
Cheers,

Neil

I would say yes, its for the Amp, take a look in the storage bin in the boot on the opposite side to the battery and you may find this:-
