In the car I have;

WP_000606_zps1b711ede.jpg.html

When I fade it to the rear all the sound disappears (I have no rear speakers).

Under the bonnet I have;

Which I think is the ecu and not the amp?????

Anyway, I take it the dash/door speakers are both powered from the front channels of the HU, and there is a crossover somewhere?

Or am I wrong?

Also are the door speakers 5.25"?

Ta. :)

That is the amplifier

I've noticed my door speakers seem to just be bass. So probably.
Also are the door speakers 5.25"?
Not sure What are you actually trying to achieve? Just out of interest...

A non shite stereo, with usb input. Anyway, http://www.jmgshop.com/porsche-boxster--996-dashboard-and-rear-speaker-adapter-kit-euro-alpine-157-p.asp and http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-spg-10c2.html Makes it sound much better. So I may stick 'as is' for a while.

Dave, I fitted the Alpine speaker conversion kits, it made a big difference from the paper ones,however the main problem I still have, the door speakers being an odd size, replacements are hard to get, the amp is not very good nor is the HU. I am going to change the HU for a double din with iopod, nav etc and then also change the amp and try to source door bass units.

Aren't the doors 5.25" mids? http://images.wikia.com/boxster/images/b/b6/Boxster_speakers_update_article.pdf http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pho-2642-phonocar-pro-tech-2642-midbass.html

I believe the problem is the depth, not (just) the diameter. They sit in plastic enclosures and any new driver would have to fit just as well otherwise you'd loose bass response - which is what they're there for. If you move the fader to the rear and get nothing, either your dash speakers are both dead or a couple of channels of the front boot amp have died or some wires have come adrift - or some combination thereof! I too changed the dash speakers to Alpines using the JMG kit (both via eBay) and I have to say that its really worth doing. Chris.

I get sound from the doors and the dash. I presumed they were both on the front channel, and the rear channel is for the rear bose speakers (that I don't have)?????
