Sticking Accelerator

Evening All, just noticed my accelerator is sticking when fully down. Checked behind the pedal, there doesn't seem to be anything broken ? Any Ideas ?

Cheers Ian

Check that the C clip hasn't come off the end of the bar that goes through the throttle pedal. Also check that the pedal isn't broken. It's only plastic and the point that it bends on can come apart.

another common issue with sticking throttle pedal is the floor is bent from being jacked up, on the edge of the jacking point, a few smacks with a club hammer sorts that out

Awesome Fix !!! Just took the gentle purswader to the floor, couple of taps, Job Done. Good call Waylander !![:D]

Hi Ian,

This hasn't come up for a while, but it's a good reminder.

It's normally people jacking the car up on the fromt pad: meant to be used for a four-post lift, so only taking 25% of the car's weight. Damage is caused if all the weight of the car is raised on one of them, but only the OSF shows the damage via the sticking pedal.

Worth getting to know the right places to support the car, and watching people when they work on it. Most specialists know where to jack it up, but I've heard of tyre fitters using the gearbox to raise the rear.... []

Well Done Waylander for providing the answer !

I was going to response but only just got to my desk - I had EXACTLY the same issue a few years ago and couldnt work out why the pedal action had a 'notch' or hump in it half way through - like you say, lift back the carpet and apply the variable percussion/ FBH and all sorted !

Since found this, could be useful. I'm now very conscious of the S2 jacking points.
