Sticking tappet on 2.7

My 18 month old 2.7 has only done 4,000miles and occasionally when I start the engine from cold there is the obvious sound of a sticking tappet on the right cylinder bank..
It clears after driving gently about half a mile...
I realise that the mileage would suggest under use but the car is always driven at least 10 to 15 miles when started although I know that this is probably not far enough to bring the oil temp up to normal..
I can imagine condensation causing rust on the tappet pistons!!!!

Has anyone else experienced this problem....I have not mentioned it to a dealer...yet..

Just drive it more David or are you in the middle of London? Perhaps a 'daily driver' car would help. It's essential you drive the car at recommmended hot engine temperatures regularly to avoid corrosion and rust inside the engine. Cams and rings in particular suffer badly. Carbon build up is an issue too..

David,

sticking tappet or just the oil having drained out of the lifter buckets? However, this should clear in 10-20 seconds, not half a mile. If this, then quite normal for our engines.
