stiff and noisy gearbox

its a 1986 Turbo LSD gearbox and I've noticed there is a lot of noise coming through from under the gearstick which increases as the speed increases

the change is also poor sometimes, with real problems getting it into 1st and reverse somedays?

is it time for a rebuild or should I try some decent gearbox oil?
 
Alot of people have tried Swepco gearbox oil which has quietened and slickened up the gearbox. You might want to try this before going for the expensive gearbox rebuild.
 
Also worth getting the linkage that sits above the gearbox checked out - that wears & gets very sloppy.
