Stiff Gear box...oh ergh missus

[] This is making a mate of mine very angry, but unless he leaves his 2000 boxster S (27000miles, immaculate) idling for 10 minutes on the Drive the gear box is virtually unusable. It literally feels like a tank to change gear. Has anyone else had a this problem?
He took it to LINDBROOK, Tonbridge, Kent. The mechanic agreed it was not right, and booked it in for warranty inspection. The Inspector said there was no fault.

Can a different grade of gear box oil be used?

Does anybody have a solution or heard of anything similar, as he has got so dispondant he is looking at changing it for a volvo.

Please Help, I don't wannt to lose a mate![]

Good Lord - please can someone help this chap before he does the unspeakable....

Apart from the the charismatic flat 6, nose bleeding brakes and animated steering, something that makes a Porker stand out from the masses is the rifle bolt transmission. It should not be undriveable from cold.

Perhaps go to an alternative OPC or Porsche Cars GB directly to get an engineer out to the car. Unfortunately it's out of warranty (unless your mate has extended it) so if a problem is identified, you've got the headache of getting Porsche to cough up for part/all of the bill (as it shouldn't be giving you probs with so few miles).

I've also got a late 2000 Boxster S, and find that the gearbox is significantly stiffer when starting off, though not undriveable. I was told when buying the car from an OPC to expect this, is this the experience of others, or should I be concerned?

Guys

the gear change of the 2000 S was stiffer than the 5 speed, but certainly not unusable. They eased it off in following years. Definately stiffer when cold.

For an owner to try to get Porsche Cars to "fix" this under warranty after 3-4 years of driving would be an uphill struggle.
