Stiff Gear Box

However, the starting point should be to check that there are no problems with the linkage--I can't see that a change in temperature would affect the shift linkage but it is a reasonably straightforward inspection that can be done with the car up on a ramp.
After this the only way I can think is to pull the gearbox and see if it is a similar problem to what I had.
For me on the positive side I took the opportunity to replace all the synchro's--there was nothing wrong with them and the car had only done 43k miles but I thought that they might need doing at some point so while the gearbox wa in pieces was as good a time as ever. So effectively I have a new diff/gearbox as a result.
Hope this is helpful and not too much scare mongering.

works a treat now with my shortshifter.. if only someone made an even shorter shortshifter, as that 20% reduction still feels too long !
btw.. what kind of mileage does your 993 have ?
